Detailed elevator pitch:
Tea Huggers is a new and independent tea company which is based in Crouch End, North London, UK. We have created a range of seven premium herbal teas which have all been blended for lifestyle needs. We've come up with some lovely new flavour combinations and we only use the finest whole-leaf tea and herbs in our teas so that every sip is packed with flavour. The teas come in easy to use silken, biodegradable, pyramid teabags. Herbal and green teas are showing impressive growth in the beverages sector. We think that our range of teas in our bright packaging, each of them with a quirky name appeals to a new generation of tea drinkers.

Business Plan

Your USP:
Our USP is premium herbal teas, blended for lifestyle needs. We believe tea should be full of flavour and should be intertesting in terms of flavour dimensions and packaging. Our values can be summed up in three words: tea, love and happiness. We only use the highest quality TEA and herbs so each cup of tea is packed full of flavour; we’re passionate about bringing LOVEly new flavours and blends to the market and all our ingredients are sourced from trusted, reputable suppliers so everyone from our producers to our consumers can share the HAPPINESS one cup at a time. We think that our bright and bold packaging appeals to a younger audience and differentiates us from other tea brands.
Your market:
Tea drinking has gone through a revolution. Sales of 'builders tea' are plummeting. Premium brands for traditional tea flavours have been launched but the offering in premium herbal teas is still limited. Herbal and green teas are showing impressive growth in the beverages sector. According to research people aged between 25-45 make up tea's fastest-growing group of enthusiasts and half of those under 34 drank more tea in 2013 than they did in the year before, and those under 34 are also more likely to drink more tea in 2014. We think that our range of teas in our bright packaging, each of them with a quirky name appeals to this new generation of tea drinkers.
Your people:
After almost 15 years of accomplishment within senior communications positions, most recently as Head of Corporate Communications at BBC Worldwide, the opportunity arose for me to combine two passions: a love of tea and entrepreneurship. In December 2013 I launched my startup: Tea Huggers. Having spent my career working for big corporates, I've launched my business with expert exeperience working for big multinationals on a global basis. The skills I'm bringing to my start up are strategy, communications, social media, marketing, branding, digital exploitation, customer relationships and stakeholder communications. These skills and experience put my startup at a huge advantage.
